Hauck Pedersen

Welcome to the paintings of Douglas O. Pedersen, oil on canvas, and the collages of Kelsey Hauck. The art on view here is Expressionist figuration devoted to the exploration of the universal human experience and is the focus in the oeuvre of both artists. Pedersen mixes his pigments with a cooked medium used by Rubens, enriching the vitality of the image without the sheen of varnish. Hauck uses retrouver papers including old Japanese calligraphed mercantile accounts, torn-up lithographs, home-made papers, origami papers, commercial wrappers, wallpapers, maps,1930s cloth paper, etc. Hauck and Pedersen have both done occasional still lifes and landscapes; Pedersen has series of still lifes and landscapes in oil, ink and mixed media.
